WIP Wednesday: August 7, 2013

Lots of changes are coming up soon, one of which involves moving, so I decided it's time to clean up the WIP pile. It seems I have a whole bunch of baby items on the needles, and they knit up quick so I want them done and sent off to their respective new homes.

First thing I picked out to finish is this Cutethulu:

All he needed was his body finished and stuffed, and wings added. It was a super quick job so not only am I showing off this cute and nerdy WIP, but it also became an FO:

Squee!!!

He will be sent off to his new home this week! And I'll continue rummaging through the WIP pile to see what else I can bang out.

Toronto Sewing Blog Meet-Up!!!!!

Dude! A blogger meet up I can actually go to! I'm pretty excited guys!

Gillian at Crafting a Rainbow and Adrienne at All Style and All Substance have arranged this little meet up for this coming Saturday and I'm pretty stoked! Meeting people who will geek out over fabric and notions and stuff just like me? Sweet!

Of course, now all I can think about is what I'll be wearing to the event. Of course I want to wear something I made, but I also need to keep in mind that sensible shoes will be a must and most of my dresses are best paired with heels... unless I rock the DMs and a dress look..... Yo, '96, what's up?

I can't wait to meet everyone!

Vacation Nails!

For my trip to Portugal, which was totally faboosh btw, I wanted to have fun and pretty nails, but they needed to last as I'd have no time or supplies to give myself touch ups or a new manicure. I ended up using Gorramit from Nerd Lacquer for the base, as I already knew that it's a long lasting colour. But I wanted a little extra, because, you know, bright yellow with red glitter just isn't flashy enough. So what did I do? I grabbed one of my new polishes from Rock Star Nails and went to town.

I used With Love which is just a clear coat with black, red and white heart shaped glitter through out. I layered that stuff on and voila! Cute, long lasting nails. There wasn't any sign of wear and tear on my nails until the last day of my trip, and since I went with a lighter colour, it wasn't at all noticeable. Success!!

Oh. My. Gallifrey...

Did you know that there's an entire forum for TARDIS Builders???? I didn't. But now that I do I can't look away! I'm starting to wonder if I can make one of these for my home.... especially after seeing this Half Scale TARDIS that user astromark made for his gorgeous kitty, Kaylee.

Dude, my cats would lose their shit for this!

Seriously, Spicy, June, and Penny I need one of these!

Nerdy Nails!

This week I'm sporting the third of the Firefly trio I ordered from Nerd Lacquer. Sadly, it seems she is no longer in business as her shop has been removed from etsy. Boo. I really love her stuff! At least I have 2 more colours after this to comfort me.

The colour of the week is "I aim to misbehave" which, I think, is a perfect colour for Captain Tightpants, although I'm not sure he'd love the glitter.

Nerdy Nails - Shiny!

I think it's safe to say that I love Nerd Lacquer nail polish. When I bought the various varnishes, I got a set of three Firefly inspired colours. You've already seen me sport "Gorramit", so this week I thought I'd try out "Shiny". It's such a lovely cool blue with silver sparkles.

These polishes are surprisingly long wearing. I thought that the sparkles in them would actually cause them to chip faster, but the last one lasted almost 2 weeks, without the first signs of wear appearing until over a week had passed. This is pretty impressive, as I usually start showing signs of wear in my manicure after a day or two, as I do a lot of typing, sewing, pinning, etc. I'm impressed!

FO Friday - April 20, 2012

As previously hinted, I've been working on a Godzilla bag. And what a bag it is! I made it with a heavy black denim, it's self lined, and has a couple of nifty pockets, one on the back (with velcro closures) and another on the inside, with a zipper closure. AND, I made an adjustable strap for the first time ever!!! I'm pretty proud of myself right about now. So, enough with the chatter, I'll just show you the pics :)

More Nerdy Nail Polish

This week I'm sporting another of the fabulous nail polishes I got from Nerd Lacquer. This time around I opted for a Firefly inspired colour, and painted my nails with "Gorramit". I'm not usually partial to yellow, but somehow this feels fitting for the time of year, being spring and all.

I absolutely LOVE the red glitter in this one!

WIP Wednesday - April 4, 2012

I've got a few things on the go right now, some knitting, and finally, some sewing! I'm so happy to be back at the sewing machine again! So this week's WIP Wednesday will be a little different. I'll be showing off not one, but three WIPs! YOU'RE WELCOME

First up, the knitting. I have yet another sweater for a teacup human on the needles. I seriously can't get enough of knitting these things! They go so fast!

Next up, I've been working on two sewing projects at once. While they are very similar, they do have differences in the details. As I'm sewing them at the same time, sometimes there's some forgetfulness on my part regarding the differences between the two, so there's been some ripping out and re-sewing the last few days. But all in all, things are moving along nicely.

One of these geeky items will be off to live in Australia! HOW COOL IS THAT???

Nerdy Nail Polish!

OMB I'm so FREAKING HAPPY I Managed to score some nail polish in Nerd Lacquer's last update. In total, I got 6 different colours. Today, I used "I Think You Call Me...Sexy". I'M IN LOVE

I don't know if nail polish falls under the coupons of Fashion on the Ration (I should check on that). If it does, I guess it's a good thing I ordered these before I started!

I'll show off the other 5 colours as I use them :)
