FO Friday - September 28, 2012

Today, I'm super excited! Why, you ask? Well, this very evening I will be winging my way to Portugal for the first time ever!!! Jealous?

Of course you are.

I actually feel like I've been on vacation all week, despite having to work, because I pretty much haven't been home except to sleep since last Friday. No joke. Between celebratory nights out and a concert this week has been jam packed. So I'm crazy tired, which could work well in my favour, as normally I can't sleep on airplanes, so I'm hoping I can catch a few zzzz's while on the red-eye.

Totally worth it
Today's FO was actually finished back on September 11, but had a big lazy when it came taking pics of it. This tends to be the trend for my projects lately it seems. At least this one was worth the wait. I've whipped up another triangle scarf, this time using a lovely yarn from Yarn Lust. Sadly for me, it seems she's been taking a break from dyeing, as I'd love to get more of her scrumptious yarn for my stash. I only have 2 skeins left from her. Sad face.

Not so sad is how pretty this scarf turned out!

I just love how the linen stitch breaks up the colour pooling.

And check out that stellar picot edging. Love, love, love it!

The only negative thing I have to say about this scarf is the name of the colourway of the yarn. It's called Twilight. I prefer to think it's so named for the colour of the sky at twilight, rather than for the books/movies about those sparkly vampires. Ahem...VAMPIRES DON'T SPARKLE.

Anyway, I'm excited to see who this scarf ends up with, as I didn't knit it with me in mind. I just knit it to knit it.

Happy Friday, darlings!

My First Sew-Along!

We interrupt the regularly scheduled WIP Wednesday post with some exciting for me, but maybe less so for you, news:

I'm going to be participating in my first ever sew-along!

Okay, okay, you are probably asking yourself why I'm excited about this. After all, I've participated in lots of knit-alongs before, why would a sew-along be exciting? Well, as evidenced in my posts, I have yet to post something I've sewn for me...what's up with that?? Well, as I have yet to procure myself a tripod, I must rely on other people to get pics for me. This means I have to doll myself up and find someone to help me take pics on the same time. Sometimes this happens, but when I'm all prettied up it usually means we go somewhere, like a patio, and well....lose track of time. But since I'll be doing a sew-along, I'll have to get pics to share! Perhaps I should get Mr. Social to get behind the camera instead of me always taking ridiculous pics of him all the time.

Case in point...
Anyhoo, on to the sew-along! I will be joining Lauren of LLadybird and many others in making a pair of Thurlow trousers by Sewaholic.

I've been meaning to try out a Sewaholic pattern sooner rather than later, so this is the perfect excuse!

In my attempt to stick to the Fashion on the Ration challenge I have set for myself, I'm aiming to use fabric from my stash for this. I haven't selected it just yet, as i don't even have the pattern yet! I'll be ordering the pattern on Friday and I'm hoping it arrives while we're away on holiday so I can get started on fabric selection when I get back, and maybe even have time to whip up a muslin before the October 29 start date.

Seriously, any excuse to sew lately is a good one for me!

Happy Hump Day, y'all!

WIP Wednesday: September 19, 2012

I seem to have more WIPs than finished stuff these days.... mainly because I get too lazy to weave in ends or block stuff. But this week I'm hoping to remedy that and I'll possibly have something to show off for FO Friday :)

Lately, I've been doing a lot of catch-up for Made to Order items for the shop, but I've been scratching out some time to work on some clothing for the trip to Portugal (which I'll probably have to get FO pics of while I'm there). I've also made some time to work on a scarf for myself, to replace the scarf that I lost last year.

Seriously, perfect colour combo and CASHMERE

This scarf is where the Baana love came from, so naturally, the replacement will be the same pattern. It's a shame though, the yarn was one of a kind, so I won't get to have anything close to the original ever again... Sadsies
Anyhoo, I've picked out some faboosh sparkly yarn for the replacement, the colourway is Sexy (inspired by Doctor Who!) and from the same indie-dyer as the yarn for the original scarf, Nerd Girl Yarns.

I've actually been sitting on this yarn for quite some time, waiting for it to tell me what it wants to be, so I can't wait to be finished! I hope it'll be ready in time to be worn on colder evenings while we're away (even though I'm being told there probably won't be cold enough evenings, a girl can dream I like to be prepared).

Happy Wednesday!

Oh. My. Gallifrey...

Did you know that there's an entire forum for TARDIS Builders???? I didn't. But now that I do I can't look away! I'm starting to wonder if I can make one of these for my home.... especially after seeing this Half Scale TARDIS that user astromark made for his gorgeous kitty, Kaylee.

Dude, my cats would lose their shit for this!
Seriously, Spicy, June, and Penny I need one of these!

Also, one of these...

WIP Wednesday: September 12, 2012

Can anyone guess what I'm working on? I may or may not have knit several of these already...

What can I say? I love this pattern!

And another teaser pic! I'm also not going to say what this is just yet ;)

Happy Hump Day!

FO Friday - September 7, 2012

Wow! Things have been crazy busy lately! I've been madly knitting to fill shop orders, and as a result, the sewing I need to do for my upcoming trip to Portugal has fallen by the wayside.

So, what have I been working on? Well, in the past few weeks I've whipped up 9, that's right, 9 hats for the shop!

Check out AndiSocial's Twist to see everything that's available!
A bunch of Scott Pilgrim hats, a wonderfully geeky (and warm) Jayne hat, and a slew of Fornicating Reindeer hats. Who knew that horny reindeer would be so popular??

I've also recently finished a pair of socks and a couple sweaters for teacup humans, but they still need to have some finishing touches done before pics can be taken of them.

I'm hoping to get in some quality time with my sewing machine tonight, and maybe get at least 1 dress finished (I have 2 currently cut out and waiting for attention). I'm also hoping to have time soon to get some pictures of the stuff I have finished over the summer. I seem to be really bad at getting the photographic proof taken care of.... .:slacker:. Perhaps I'll wear an Andi original to Riot Fest this weekend and get that taken care of.

Have a great weekend, dolls!
